We opened our practice in San Antonio because it’s a really friendly community. It’s a big city, but it feels like a small town, and we really enjoy living here.
We love where our office is located. It’s been so rewarding for us to see so many military families and to be able to help them and give them a healthier smile. I feel so lucky that I’m able to work with my husband every day. We have such a good relationship, and at Rolling Oaks Dental, we’re family, and we’re able to treat our staff like family and our patients also become our family.
My favorite thing about coming to Rolling Oaks Dental is the people, because they make you feel so welcome and so much at home. You like being here, and that’s something, isn’t it?
I know that people are often times anxious or scared coming to the dentist, but at Rolling Oaks Dental we do everything we can to make it comfortable for the patient. From the moment they walk in, they’re greeted with a smile. We offer coffee and other beverages, and when they come to the back, we have blankets and warm towels for after their treatment. We really do everything we can to make their visit comfortable.
I would tell anybody thinking about coming to Rolling Oaks Dental that this would be the greatest place for them. I told my friend Angela, and so now she and both of her boys come here and they love it just like I do. As well, myself, I am truly satisfied, I would not go anywhere else.
At Rolling Oaks Dental, we want all of our patients to be able to have that healthy, beautiful smile, so we offer a lot of financing options to make that possible.
At Rolling Oaks Dental, we really love seeing children. We do everything we can to make them feel as comfortable as possible, whether it’s with games and books in the waiting room, and before we begin any treatment, I always spend a lot of time with them to go over what we’re going to do, so that I make sure they are as comfortable as possible, as well as parents.
At Rolling Oaks Dental, you’ll never be treated like just another patient. You’re a valued part of our practice family.
One of the most rewarding things for me is when a patient refers a family member or friend to our office. It lets me know that they really trust us.
We know that patients have many options when it comes to choosing their dental care. We are so grateful when they choose us.
What’s up everyone? Today we’re diving into something that goes way beyond just teeth. We’re talking about the vibe of a dental office. How important is it? Spoiler alert, it’s everything. So let’s get into it Before we do, I’m Larry Dougherty. I’ve been a dentist for 16 years and I’m here at my practice Rolling Oaks Dental in Garden Ridge, Texas. Back in 2011, when I opened my practice, I was like a sponge, soaking up all the expert advice I could find, but guess what? Dental school barely scratched the surface of running a practice. Even if they did, I probably wouldn’t have listened because I was laser focused on just becoming a dentist. Fast forward three years after graduation and there I was opening my own practice. So at that time, the expert advice was all about targeting a specific demographic. Design the space, pick the services, even set the hours based on the ideal target.
Sounds pretty smart, right? Well, after eight years of undergrad, dental school education, and three years as an employee dentist, I was totally new to the business game growing up, I never thought about business. My dad’s a physician. He worked at a hospital and we never talked about business. I assumed doctors didn’t need to know anything about business. Only sales guys that wore suits to offices or something, right? Well, I was wrong. Starting a dental business was like learning a new language. It felt foreign, and honestly, I didn’t really care about it. I thought, how hard can this be? Just do what they say and everything will work itself out. Spoiler, it didn’t. I underestimated the game big time. My wife and I began critically evaluating the business advice we were getting. A lot of it didn’t resonate with us. We felt like we were trying to build something unique, something no one else was talking about.
Here’s the kicker. Most business advice for dentists comes from non dentists or dentists who don’t even see patients. It’s a cookbook on how to exit dentistry. But I love being a dentist. I didn’t want out. I wanted more in. So we set out on a different path. One day, an experienced new employee ask me, why are you trying to make a cookie cutter dental office when you’re not a cookie cutter dentist? Create something that reflects you. That hit me pretty hard. It was a wake up call. I decided to ditch the cookie cutter model and follow my own vision of what a dental practice could be. For the past 10 years, I’ve been on a journey to create a practice that reflects my values and passions. Instead of aiming for a target demographic, I strive to be myself and give my patients and staff the best I have every day.
It’s about building a sustainable practice that mirrors my pursuit of excellence and care by creating a space that reflects my interest and taste, I attract like-minded individuals who value what I offer. I can give honest opinions on dental health and provide high quality care without some middle management or private equity investor dictating my every move. I’m proud to be part of the community here in Garden Ridge. I hold myself to high standards of integrity and honor. That’s my promise to patients who trust me with their care. So what do you think?
